Botanical Name: Sambucus ebulus

Elderberries have been used to make preserves, wines, cordials, herbal infusions, and elderberry syrup for centuries.

The flowers and berries of the Elder plant have a long history of use.  Its roots are native to most of Europe, North America, and southwest Asia.  The dried fruits are less bitter than the fresh.  Elder is a member of the Caprifoliaceae family.
